You can download a free Demo version of Voyager 4 using the links below. Some features which are present in the commercial version of Voyager 4 are not present or have been disabled in this Demo version; see the "Demo Version Limitations" notes (below) for details.
This Demo version is time-limited and will not run after December 31st, 2008.

The Mac OS X version of the demo is distributed as a compressed disk image file. After you've downloaded the disk image file, double-click its icon to mount the image on your desktop. Then copy the Voyager 4 Demo folder from the disk image to the Applications folder on your hard drive. To un-install, drag the Voyager 4 Demo folder on your hard drive to the trash.
The Windows version of the demo is distributed as a self-extracting installer executable. After you've downloaded the installer executable, double-click its icon, then follow the instructions in the installer screen. To un-install, go to the Start menu > Programs > Carina Software > Voyager 4 Demo > Uninstall Voyager 4 Demo, or use the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel.
If you have problems downloading these files, please check to make sure that the exact size of the file you've downloaded (in bytes) matches the file sizes specified above. If they do not match, the download was incomplete or corrupted. Send e-mail to support@carinasoft.com, let us know which version you need, and we'll try to send it back to you by email.
In order to maintain a reasonable size, this Demo version contains only a small subset of the astronomical databases available with the full version of Voyager 4. Here are the differences:
| Feature | Demo Version | Full Version |
| Stars | 26,799 (to mag. 7.5) | 155 million (to mag. 18.0) |
| Deep Sky Objects | 2,289 (to mag. 12.0) | 1 million (to mag. 20.0) |
| Asteroids | 11,974 | 396,583 |
| Comet Orbits | 362 | 3,109 |
| Satellites & Spacecraft | 644 | 849 |
| Deep Sky Object Images | 78 | 240 |
| Solar System Object Images | 19 | 34 |
| Horizon Profile Images | 3 | 6 |
| Image Gallery Images | none | 600 |
Several menu items in the "Tools" menu of the Demo version are disabled. These correspond to features which would not work properly with the limited Demo version database. Such menu items include the "Image Gallery", "Asteroid Survey", "Binary Star Orbits", "Star Survey", and "Redshift Distribution" commands. These items are all, of course, functional in the full version of the program.
In addition, the Demo version includes only low-resolution versions of the images used to render planets, moons, and deep sky objects. In the full version, the deep sky object images have twice the resolution; and for many solar system objects, the image resolution is four times as high. Here are some examples; you can click on the "preview" images below to see full-size images generated by the Demo and Full versions of the program.
