You can download SkyGazer 4 using the links below. This is a fully-functional version of the program, identical to what we ship on CD-ROM. However, until you register your copy with a valid serial number purchased from Carina Software, the program will only display a small portion of the objects in its database. See the notes on "Registering your Copy" below.

The Mac OS X version of SkyGazer 4 is distributed as a compressed disk image file. After you've downloaded the disk image file, double-click its icon to mount the image on your desktop. Then copy the SkyGazer 4 folder from the disk image to the Applications folder on your hard drive. To un-install, drag the SkyGazer 4 folder on your hard drive to the trash.
The Windows version of the demo is distributed as a self-extracting installer executable. After you've downloaded the installer executable, double-click its icon, then follow the instructions in the installer screen. To un-install, go to the Start menu > Programs > Carina Software > SkyGazer 4 > Uninstall SkyGazer 4, or use the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel.
If you have problems downloading these files, please check to make sure that the exact size of the file you've downloaded (in bytes) matches the file sizes specified above. If they do not match, the download was incomplete or corrupted. Send e-mail to support@carinasoft.com, let us know which version you need, and we'll try to send it back to you by email. You can also purchase a copy on CD-ROM from us.
SkyGazer 4 is UNREGISTERED when it is first installed. An unregistered copy of SkyGazer 4 cannot display any stars fainter than magnitude 7, any deep sky objects fainter than magnitude 10, or more than 10 asteroids/comets/spacecraft. Otherwise, the program is fully functional. Registering SkyGazer 4 allows it to display its complete database of more than 300,000 stars to 9th magnitude; 2200 deep sky objects to 12th magnitude, plus nearly 6000 asteroids, 350 comets, and 600 satellites/spacecraft. Registration also adds your contact information to our user database. You will need a valid e-mail address in our registered user database in order to recieve technical support and to download updates from our web site.
To register, you will need a valid SkyGazer 4 serial number purchased from Carina Software. This serial number is printed on the registration card included with your SkyGazer 4 CD-ROM retail packaging, and/or is included in the e-mail reciept that you recieved if you purchased SkyGazer 4 on-line. Our software license agreement allows you to install and register SkyGazer 4 on up to two (2) computers for your own personal use. Installing more than two copies requires the purchase of additional serial number(s) and/or a multiple-installation site license; see our web site for details. However, you may re-install and re-register the software on the same computer an unlimited number of times.
You can register or re-register the software at any time using the "Registration..." command in the "Help" menu (Windows) or "SkyGazer 4" menu (Mac OS X). You can also use this feature to update your contact information in our registered user database. To register, you will need an active internet connection; if on-line registration fails for some reason, you will have the option to register by phone.
